The temp was 10 with a windchill of -25....great for St Bernards....not so much for us. Thankful for Carhartt overalls and lined boots on a day like this.....time to clean the horse stalls!
Life on the farm
The sun is setting over the farm on a rencent warm spring night
hoping for a spring thaw
A little rain overnight made for a slick but beautiful morning on the farm
Elsa waiting for her driver...
Elsa lives for her rides on the farm golf cart....sometimes she even begs for her driver :)
a storm is coming...
watching a wild storm come in just over Lake Michigan
Watching life go by...
Peas patiently sits in the window while watching the notoriously mischievous geese taunt her
after the snow storm
We have 13 horses at the farm and were shy one stall last winter...this massive snow storm hit so we had to move everyone around so Bolero would be safe inside the barn
one morning last summer I heard something sneeze in the tree line by the barn....I went to look and found this tiny newborn possum. too cute not to share :)
a cold ride
Elsa loves her rides in my 74 Ford Bronco....even when the windchill is below zero....so we dress warm and take her around the farm
a dry mouth?
I adopted this big fur ball when she was about 2 and was told she is a dry mouth....I would hate to see what a wet mouth would be!
Easter egg hunt...
Elsa decided to create her own Easter egg hunt at the farm this year
enough winter already
while helping with morning chores...even this snow loving dog has had enough of winter..
fire in the sky
just another storm coming in over Lake Michigan...
when cats yell
Peas is either trying to tell me she does not like her spring haircut or she is out of food....either way I hear ya Peas!
our next winter project
we bought this old ford truck in hopes of enticing my dad to retire. It's not exactly going as planned...
a helping hand
I found this beauty in the market last summer, she was stuck in the window of our large garage door. She was calm enough that I would pick her up to get her outside....somehow I feel like she took a minute to thank me before she flew off :)
Birdie gives multi tasking her best effort....practicing downward yoga dog while enjoying a nice stick
life before a van
this was one of the last picks we went on before we upgraded to a high rise cargo van
a foggy morning
the draft horses were waiting for their breakfast one foggy morning this spring. photo credit to JimJamesCreative
another fire in the sky
just another shot of the sun going down over the farm
the adventures here include these wicked beasts...we taught them how to swim in the pond a few years ago
a horse is a horse
we were told horses do not like to be alone because they are prey animals....so we now had 13 (mostly rescues)
learning to drive this beast in the woods during firewood cutting day...only backed into a tree once!
these cuties were taking a break from the heat a few days after we rescued them. We ended up with 4 St Bernard babies...which is the litter Elsa came from :)
6000+ square feet of vintage, primitives, architectural, home decor, Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan and more! We re-stage the market every month so it looks different every time! No entry fee....one mile north of downtown Three Oaks. Open year round!
